Practice with These Exercises

Identify the catalysts for at least two stock calls (can be by a sell-side analyst for a stock you cover), including the quality of the catalyst
Review your calendar to see if you’re planning ahead for events that will likely recognize the catalyst(s) for a stock call
Periodically review the best practices to avoid the 14 most common psychological pitfalls to investing (see reference cards for details)
Review at least one price target for a stock (using your financial forecast or consensus) to see how much the financial forecast and valuation multiple differ from consensus (using the AnalystSolutions’ Excel template “How Do You Differ”)
Identify where there is the most disagreement among consensus for your universe of stocks
Review your comp table relative to the best practices found in the Reference Card on comp tables
Review the following two reference cards with the goal to see how your recent or current high-conviction stock calls could be improved:
